In the 19th century camera building was quite an accepted part of our hobby. Alas as cameras became more complex, there were fewer enthusiasts left to try a DIY Hasselblad!.
In those far distant days mahogany and brass were the preferred materials, Gandolfi would not have enjoyed MDF. To recreate those golden years I have built a mahogany and brass wide angle pinhole diy camera.
This is the same as the camera shown page 3 of this site, but it does have something of an objet d'art feel about it.
